FINALLY! Ready, IMO, for potting up into a "proper pot" this year. This was grown from seed and trained by myself and I'm pretty proud of how it turned out. The wire is temporary and only in use until the roots set in the new pot. In fact, this is the first time I've used any wire on this tree at all. Hope you all like:

This is a very impressive tree. I'm always amazed when people have the patience to grow from seed, I just can't wait that long. Great looking tree!

Thanks a lot. Sorry for the crappy pics, best I could do with my Droid, which doesn't do macro real well, especially when there's a very bad photographer on the other end (me).

On growing from seed... it's a lot easier to do when you're working with a few dozen other trees as well.

My next grow from seed projects are Crepe Myrtle, Myrtle, and Indian Hawthorn.

I was working on Monterey Pines from seed as well, but the trees' needles are just too long and too difficult to work with to be viable for a Mame/Shohin. It is a nice, compact species, though, and they were doing well in a cold room situation, completely indoors, until I began neglecting them.
