Our little bonsai collection

Hi all.

I just thought I'd share our bonsai collection with you all.

Any care, styling advice & comments are welcomed.

First up is my little Chinese elm, I've owned it for about 3 months. I've recently removed a few branches that had grown in detriment to the tree, it's just started to fill out again, though it still has a little way to go.

Here is the smallest tree I own, my Variegated Serissa. I've owned this tree for about two & a half months, I repotted it after I bought it as it was rootbound & I didn't like the pot it was in. Since then it's been very slow growing, as I think I interrupted it's growth cycle. Also I've had some issues with fungus gnats which I think have been eating it's new roots. I've treated it with nematodes (Steinernema feltiae) which I think are helping.

Then we have my latest purchase, a 65cm tall Banyan Fig. I've owned this for about 3-4 weeks, I've pruned it & given it the best care I know how & it seem be liking it's new home, the tree is covered in new growth on the weaker side, for more info see this thread: https://www.helpfulgardener.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30495

Lastly we have my girlfriend's Chinese Elm, I bought her it for her birthday at the end of July this year. Since then she's done a pretty good job caring for it & pruning/shaping it. This tree had a few issues when I got it for her, the garden centre from where I bought it had over watered it & some roots were starting to rot & there was a thick layer of green moss helping keep the soil moist. This tree is also suffering with fungus gnats, maybe more so than the serissa, nematodes are helping.

That's a really nice collection. It's great that your girlfriend shares your hobby, too. :)
