What type of North American tree to use.

I would like to start a couple of Bonsai trees. Just wondering if anyone can tell me which are the best to use or point me in the right direction. I've been looking for awhile.

Thanks in advance.

Sam,

You are on the right track in considering trees that are native to your region. In what part of the country are you located?

SamTHorn,

Oaks, Maples, Willows, Cypress, Myrtles

Many North American trees make good subjects. Gnome has the right idea, find local trees in your area and use what naturally flourishes around you!

Thank you for your suggestions. I am considering pine. I've seen a great one somewhere on here.

Is there anywhere around here I can find information such as lighting, soil, feed, watering--you know, the basics.

Thanks in advance.

Sam... what region do you live in? That will help us give you the best advice for care in that area.
