accidental bonsai?

This was a 4' tall or so flowering crabapple tree. It got blitzed in our last infestation of the 17 year cicadas and I thought it died. I pulled it from the container it was in and just threw it on top of the brush pile. There it sat, bare root and unattended, through the fall and all the winter. Last spring it was showing signs of life, so I stuck it back in the pot, but didn't pay any other attention to it. Here it is now. I looked at it and thought it had some of the character of bonsai:

rainbowgardener,

I'm glad you are going to give it a second chance, Crabs can make very nice bonsai. When the weather warms up again (snow here again last night) perhaps you can get some clearer pictures with the debris cleared away from the trunk.
