I am familiar with air layering, are you talking about the top branch and possibly part of the left branch? I do plan on doing some pruning, maybe layering though I hadn't given it much thought yet, but I just got it and I always ponder forever before I cut a branch. Lemme know what you were thinking could be layered.

Either you are joking or you took me waaay too literally, I can't tell which. Perhaps I should have said that I see the possibility to create more than one tree from this stock, see below.

I find the horseshoe bend at position 'A' very distracting. There are several ways that you could approach this, assuming you are of a similar mind. The portion at position 'B' would make a shohin size tree, as would the portion at position 'C'. The top, position 'D' has the start of a nice broom style tree.

I'm not suggesting you abandon the trunk either, this species will bud back vigorously from even drastic chops. These are just ideas and you could handle this in any number of ways/combinations. For instance you could leave the portions at positions 'C' and/or 'D' in place and go from there. As I said, just something to think about, I'm sure that there are more possibilities.

I do see what you are saying and I had similar thoughts for the top and back when it is more stable. The end I was thinking I would just extend on down to make a more pleasing shape. I do realize that it would bounce back from a hard pruning, but as I said earlier possibly a different thread I like to take forever to make changes. Those were some good ideas for layering at least one of those will probably be taken off the tree thanks for the input !
