After posting the pictures on here I and considering your opinions I think I will follow the advice I was given about giving it some wild time and re-potting into a larger pot in autum.

Ok so this is how it looks as of approximately two weeks ago

On a side note the brown substance on top of the soil is tea leavs. This was left over from what my mam uses for the garden plants and I decided to give it a go. However after one watering most of it had washed away and after allowing it to dry I removed the rest.
Next is the Elm. As befor I will supply a befor and after photos for you consideration.

As you can see I have cut back large amounts of the foliage and I'm reasonably happy with it... However the re-potting did not go as planed and well its a little unstable at the mo hence the tape holding it still. I must admit however this tree has been outside in the worst of the summer storms we have had in the UK and still is upright

As mentioned in a previous post I am now using cat litter for the majority of my soil mixed in with a small handful of sphagnum moss. I also placed a very think layer of bonsai soil I bought over the top layer to cover a few pesky roots.
Anyway comments and suggestions always welcome. I have other projects with a air layering of a blossom tree that I intend to post soon but I havnt had chance to get home and check them.
