Indoor Bonsai - thoughts welcome

very hot dry weather at the moment - moss covering has dried out a few times although I immerse the bonsai root ball in water ever day or second day.

The tree looks prety good to me but I don't know about the moss. The color does NOT look good. Depending on what type of moss it is, if it does not green up again after a few waterings...I would remove it.

EDIT: WOW, I did not see how old the post was.

I ended up giving it away in a garage sale with hope that someone can rejuvinate it :-( I am a very sad man.. I don't think I will keep a bonsai indoors again. Just keep it under shade outside.

Is there any reason why you gave it away? Did you give it away because the moss was brown? Or was the tree dying? What kind of tree was it? If you answer these questions, I can help identify what went wrong.

I only have a few years exercising the green thumb, but I've seen your pix and believe that this moss you had on a healthy looking tree was just unhappy indoors. It probably was a cool/cold weather moss that doesn't like heat or lack of humidity (which indoors is usually below 40%). Too bad you gave up the cute tree . . . :( In the future, know that the mosses I'm familiar with prefer outdoors, a few in the sun, most in the shade, all like it very, very wet!
