Fungus growing on ivy cutting

I've had an ivy cutting in water for a few weeks, and the roots have just started to take off. I was thinking of potting it, but noticed white fluffy growth along parts of the stem and roots. Is there a way to kill that if off? Or do I need to take a new cutting and start over?

I think you could put something in the water to slowdown the mold/mildew but need to know what kind of ivy. Hydrogen peroxide would raise pH, aspirin would lower it.

The person I got it from didn't know, but it looks like veregated ivy (hedera helix) to me. I could take a picture if you'd like.
