Scented Clematis

Can any one suggest a scented summer flowering clematis, suitable for planting in a container, to grow up and over a pergola. An evergreen variety (if one exists) would be ideal.
Thanks in advance.

I did a search and found that these offer fragrance: Terniflora and Virginiana. I'm not sure about their color, though. You could check to see whether they're evergreen or not. (I think they all go dormant for awhile, but I'm not sure what they do in your climate). If they do, you could always plant more than just clematis on your arbor; something like potato vine, climbing rose, wisteria, etc so you'll have something blooming even when your clematis isn't. Good luck.

Amen to everything that gardenmom said and you might consider also, jasmine and or moon flower vine. They are lovely and do quite well if contained.
