Lipstick plant and Mosquitos

My Neighboor has a lipstick plant in a pot on her porch. She says there is a lot of Mosquitos flying around it. What do you think it could be? I am thinking soil, but I am not sure.

Isn't lipstick plant one of hummingbird favorites? So assuming the blossoms are nectar-rich, these could be male mosquitoes....
