Hyacinth in a tiny pot

I've bought a hyacinth in a tiny tiny pot, and I'm not sure how to best care for it.

Image

The label said to keep it away from direct sunlight and water sparingly until it blooms, and then once it's bloomed to keep the soil moist. The outer layer of the bulb is starting to feel a bit dry.

Can the flower actually bloom in such a tiny pot? Any more specific guidance on how much to water it, beyond "sparingly", which is kinda vague?

Thanks in advance.

The "pot" doesn't seem to have a drainage hole, which explains the instruction to "water sparingly" you could easily drown it. Not sure what would be the best watering regimen....

Bulbs can bloom, relying on stored energy in the bulb, but will expend all its resources. Without good light, the flower stalk will elongate and will not bloom in a compact mass... Bit it would probably dry out too quickly in the sun.

It's a typical disposable gift plant that is treated like a cut flower and gifted in full bloom -- this one might be geared up for Easter.

Repot into a much larger pot with a drain hole and good soil and add some bulb fertilizer at about half the strength on the package. Give it as bright of light as possible and keep it as cool as you can inside the house. After the bloom has faded you can set it outside as long as the weather is good, above freezing and not raining/snowing. After your last frost plant it in the yard where you want it to grow.

After replanting in the new pot water until the soil is moist then don't water again until the top inch of the soil dries out. When repotting you can have the soil level higher than it is in that little pot. Half way up the bulb or even to the bottom of the green leaves is okay.
