Indoor Palm - Neanthe bella

I picked up one of these small palms at local chain supply store. Good for about 3 weeks and now it seems to be drying up / dying off? Any help is appreciated, worst case I have to purchase a new one. If I do, I would like to learn how to avoid purchasing a third - despite what Lowes would prefer

Here is a pic Image

What do you have this plant growing in? Looks rather strange.

It's a temporary thing, I had a pot for it but it broke. It is still in its planter from purchase that is placed within a glass container. I have just re-potted it in a larger temporary planter that will bio degrade over time if planted. I know I am doing something incorrect, but what I do not know.

From the leaves I'd automatically be thinking lack of proper watering, but I'm not sure you have proper drainage or soil or air circulation or light going on as well.

It could be a lot of things! Judging solely from the picture, it looks like it's dried out or maybe got a sunburn! My palms do best in indirect light, although I've read many different things about lighting requirements for these guys. My palm is only in direct light for about an hour a day in the window in which he sits. So maybe try decreasing the amount of light if it's basking in the sun a lot throughout the day. Give some more detail about how you are caring for this one: how much light it gets, what direction your window faces, how much you're watering, etc. :)

It sits in front of a shade that I never raise, receiving only ambient room lighting. I water about once a week or when I notice the top soil is dry. The window faces north west.
