Indoor Plant seems sick...

Hello - This is my first post here - I've been reading many of the posts here and find them very informative.

I've had this indoor plant for about 8 years and recently (over the last few years) the leaves have been drying up from the tips and eventually turning brown and die. The plant is slowly becoming thinner and thinner and I don't know what to do to save it...

It's in an area of the house where there is no direct sunlight - (I don't know if it needs any, as I don't know what type of plant it is) I did put it in a new pot last year.. perhaps it's not letting it "breathe" or something??

All plants need light I think. Have you checked if the roots are coming out the bottom? perhaps its stopping growth and strahgling itself I found repotting helps there.

Try some plat food and move it into the light with air it may help.

Thanks for the reply. The dirt in the pot always seems damp, and when I repotted it, I noticed that the roots didn't go very deep...

Well, the dilemma continues - even the new shoots out the top start to get brown tips on them...

anyone know the name of this plant? Perhaps I can look up caring instructions...

Looks similar to a cornstalk plant.

yeah similar! but not a cornstalk! - just stalky - I doubt it would look so "stalky" if its' leaves hadn't dried up...

This is a pretty common plant, though, and its' name eludes me...

After many hours of searching, I finally found it!

It's a Dracaena "lisa"

I think I'm watering too much....
