So I do a lot of hiking and sometimes seeds stick to me and get washed off when I take a shower. One day while I'm showering I look down at the drain and see a seedling actually sprouting from my drain. It wasn't growing from deep within the drain, it must have gotten stuck right at the little grate thing and sprouted over night. Well I rescued it and I can't wait to see what it is when it grows up. I hope it isn't too late in the year to grow up. Anyway, just thought I would share it with everyone. At least I know my soap is environmentally friendly

This is after I saved it and put it in one of those jiffy peat pellets. I hope it does well.

I'll keep you posted with pictures for sure. The first two pictures were taken on 8/13/13. This one was taken today 8/17/13. It has it's first set of true leaves showing. It's a little bent over from growing toward the light in my windowsill. I have to rotate it a few times a day. I might have to find a way to get it more light but I'm afraid to put it outside. It's been getting down to 50 already at night here. I want it to stay warm and I'm afraid I'll forget to bring it in.

At a GUESS it might be a purslane seedling, but that's just a guess, because it is still so young.

this picture doesn't show it real well, but the purslane has those thick succulent-y leaves. It's a common edible weed.
But if it is something growing wild in your area, there's a good chance it is hardy, so you probably could just leave it outside, especially for now -- even tropicals can handle 50 deg.
