glass–topped box paint

Hi everyone, I'm in the process of building a 36x36 box with an angled glass top for seed starting and plant hardening and propagation. I'm using some house plywood that I have around for the sidewalls, screwed to 2x4s in the corners. I don't believe it is treated and I will only have dirt up 4 inches or so on the inside. I'm wondering if there is any plant safe paint that can help prevent deterioration of the wood of the box? If not would spray painting the outside affect the plants inside? It would make my girlfriend a bit happier if it was a dark green, or something other than wood

Sorry, I missed your post when it was new. Definitely paint the outside. But even for the inside, I think any paint would be "plant safe" once dried.
