So you may have seen my thread where I purchased a bicycle plant stand https://www.helpfulgardener.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=48310 Well I came across a similar stand last night, only about 3x the size (I could practically ride the thing)! It's actually much more what I had in mind. I've decided that the small tricycle stand will go inside for my propagated african violet babies, and the large bicycle is going on my front porch I love it!!! My husband actually got pretty excited too because he's a bicycle mechanic and now we are appropriately representing on our front porch!
Anyway, now that I'm dealing with some decent sized pots I have more options! Here's what I'm thinking for Fall...
For the pot that will go in the front basket: creeping jenny, winter pansies, and maybe some purple fountain grass towards the back of the pot.
For the seat: Maybe just a single mum?
For the rear (three oval shaped baskets): More winter pansies in small pots, since that's all that can fit in the oval space. I'm thinking that in the middle rear basket I might plant some ornamental grass for texture... or maybe some licorice plant (Helichrysum 'Icicles').
I have a large mum sitting beside the bike and would like to cluster some pots of varying sizes beside it at the base. I could do one with some flowering kale and then maybe one with a small mum. It's also a good place for pumpkins... is it too early?

Yes, I'm with Apple. We need photos. I'm always looking for new ideas
Here's a simple tricycle I welded and sold at the Farmer's Market.

I was practically jumping up and down in the store... I've been looking all summer and after purchasing the tiny one online and being so disappointed, I was very excited! It's exactly what I wanted!!!
I'll definitely take some photos when I get home from work
Does anyone have any Fall favorites as far as container plants go?
What do you have on your front porch for the season? I'd love photos for inspiration!

You are going to have a lot of fun with that.
One favor ...can we just see how they would look if you put the tall grassy one in te seat -- kind of represent the bicyclist with te height and trailing vines for legs -- and swap with the shorter one in the seat so the handlebar basket represents basket of flowers/shopping items.

That's where I initially wanted the height but that pot is taller than the pot on the seat and the basket on the seat isn't as deep as the one on the handlebars so I'm concerned about it toppling, it just doesn't feel sturdy. Unfortunately I had to plant the grass in the deeper pot or else I would have just planted in the pot on the seat. So much for all my careful measuring and planning At least the pots fit!

I'm slowly learning what annuals continue to look good throughout the season and what I personally like.
Here's my bicycle planted for spring.
Someone knocked the whole bicycle over this winter and all the pots broke so I have different pots in there that will now accommodate the purple fountain grass to be in the seat
I'd never seen a flowering maple before and just had to try it out this year. It's planted with an orange diascia but the blooms of the maple are also orange.
Diascia is definitely one of my favorites! The blooms dwindle in the hottest months but it flushes out a gorgeous 2nd round as it begins to cool again. I have some dusty miller in there so it isn't completely boring when the blooms take a break.
This pot has no drainage (it was a gift) but since it's under the covered patio it seems to be okay since it doesn't drown when it rains. I planted Angelonia in there because I liked the color combo and shape of the plant with the pot.
I couldn't resist this coleus!
The canna flower will be orange and I thought it would be a fun contrast from the blue blooms.
