Smallish Self-Watering Containers for Medium Size Veggies?

I bought a bunch of 12" diameter/7" deep self-watering containers (Menard's is blowing them out for $3.50 apiece; Amazon sells them for $12.99 or more). Anyway, any suggestions for what kind of vegetables I can grow in them? I've read that self-watering containers can handle bigger vegetables than traditional containers of the same size, but how much bigger the vegetables?

A partial list I've been able to come up with from various books and sites: all green leaf vegetables, cherry tomatoes, bush peas, bush beans, Munchkin broccoli. Those should all work.

But what about medium-sized tomatoes? Broccoli? Cukes? Banana peppers? Any thoughts on those?

Thanks.
