M'kay, challenge accepted!

I don't have any vision when it comes to flowers, but hopefully by the end of summer I'll have something in that department.

Here's a few pics from the 2013 fall container veggie garden. This was our first foray away from the store-bought pepper and tomato starts of prior years. I harvested something nearly every day through January. This year is 10 times more ambitious.

more lettuce (I like lettuce), chard, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower. I shouldn't have put 3 brussels in that box. they didn't do as well as the 2 in the back that had more room. see the last pic for what became of the bucket and nursery container in the back right.

a view from the other direction showing the carrot box. took tiny baby carrots to keep it thinned, then the bigger ones were gone by the end of January.

celery! I tried so hard to kill the seedlings and yet they perservered. It's the last thing from the fall garden and I just started taking stalks from the outside. This was taken today.

Here's the early 2014 salad garden. Hubby built me new salad boxes that can hang on the walls of the greenhouse (aka plant fortress). The runoff waters the strawberry baskets until I can figure out how to recycle it better. I didn't think the boxes held enough plants, so he built more. I've got six now, but 2 are earmarked for herbs.

All of these are really nice but I really like that marigold, lobelia, blue fescue grass, and deep magenta petunia mix especially the color contrast. Some ideas for sure.

Han you have some really nice beautiful pots/specimens as well...wow!

This is a great idea. Honestly my favorite thing to do when I'm bored is just look at photos of plants, haha. ;D

Right now, my two windowboxes have Little Marvel peas, lettuce, spinach, arugula, and what's left of last fall planted Egyptian onions in them. And the peas have started to bloom. :()

Once peas are done, I'm planting Blush and Maglia Rosa tomatoes in the 36" and some peppers in the 48".

I happened to open this up to p. 1 and noticed that the pictures I posted to start this thread got disappeared, because I renamed the album. So here's a few of them, plus a few new ones:

I'm going to post this in my garden thread but thought I'd share here, too. There's some Love Lies Bleeding, butternut squash, a bunch of flowers I can't name, some geraniums, thai basil, and mint (might be hard to see, off to the left).

I just really like this assemblage at the edge of my raised bed.

I haven't been on my computer more than ten minutes in three weeks, and I think I forgot how to type...

This is pretty simple and still not fully developed compared to the gorgeous examples that have been posted here, but this was my first time growing petunias from seeds and I'm liking the effect of the combination with Firetail chenille and the honeyvine milkweed growing on the trellis.

I was sipping coffee on my deck this morning and looked at my yearly annual planter . I put color in this every year for the deck . It is an old fountain that got cracked and leaky from freezing the first winter :x So It now is used as a planter .
This years combination Is the best ever , Viola's , Snapdragons , Marigolds and Impatiens have just made a wonderful blend that dazzles !!

Beautiful! I love the combination of the weathered wood and the colorful flowers.

I need to take a few pix of this years containers! Things are looking good...

I like how you framed your picture.

That was a great idea to repurpose your fountain/container. Looking great! :D

I'm afraid I won't be planting much annuals this year -- got WAY caught up with starting seeds of tomatoes and peppers and eggplants, too. Somehow didn't get around to starting flower seeds -- not even marigolds  So I will be enjoying the color show vicariously -- looking forward to seeing everyone's pictures 8)

I'll post pics of my container vegs later on when they are a bit more attractive.

Thanks ! I have become pretty good with image editors and now make a habit of sampling a color from the image to use as a border , with flowers I take the Brightest , boldest color

Very nice! I keep losing my bleeding heart. I guess I still haven't found the ideal spot for them. I have the wilder native kind but the cute heart-shaped one didn't come up yet again this spring. :(

Here's may strawberry jar. I keep trying something different -- this year, I planted the lettuce and rocket on the NE side, and put French thyme, marjoram, oregano, Aztech broccoli (a lambs quarters relative) on the sunny hot side.

I was waiting to see if the Greek oregano that grew on the top last year would come back but it's looking really wimpy (those are mostly weeds), so I think I'll dig all that out and try planting one or two of the Alpine strawberry seedlings that I started this winter.

My pots are starting to fill in! I had enough creeping jenny from one of last year's pots that I was able to divide it up to go in 5 or 6 pots.

Very nice! I need to explore more container growing. I gave up on it years ago, but am slowly coming around to the idea after finding ways to make watering them easier.

I do like having some containers on the back patio off the kitchen so I could dash out and pick an ingredient when needed. Here's my windowbox of salad fixin's Image

I do love my containers. The tomatoes and Swiss Chard I love to eat, but most of my containers are flowers. Sometimes I like to take an unusual container and plant it with flowers.
This grill belonged to my Mother-in-law. I plant it with something different evey year.

This year I have a red/yellow theme

I always enjoy seeing other gardeners containers. This year has been very wet here, so I wasn't as wowed with how my containers did as I was last year. Actually I wasn't impressed much at all with my garden this year. Some individual containers were great but put all together...not so much.

Some of the good ones

And then cheated and bought the large fabric pot for flowers. Lol
