Cantaloupe in containers???

I'm gonna try to grow cantaloupe in a 4 gallon bucket, has anyone had anyluck growing melons in a container. I know they spread and need room but I think theyll be fine.

You should be able to do that. I have grown watermelons in large pots. They do need lots of room as you said.

This is an interesting question. I have thought of this myself. Pow wow - how many watermelons did you get per pot? I have wondered wether you get one large melon, or many smaller than usual melons.

Hello NorthEast,
I had two vines in one large pot. And I got about 4 melons per vine. These were the small round watermelons. One melon enough for 2 people. I forget the name but they were yellow not red inside. Very, very tasty! There were alot of flowers on the vines but I plucked all but the first four that set fruit.
Last year I planted the big ones in the ground and our cool wet spring killed all the vines.
