R.I.P., MY UMBRELLA PLANT

 I'm very sad as I just got through burying my dear Schefflera (or umbrella plant) The end came when the final stem of leaves fell off today. I'm left bereft with only the original stem standing lonely but unbowed. So what now my friends??? Can "the stem" produce again or must it join the leaves in my trash bin????? Can you help me out of my despair and give me some hope???? :(

I have been told they will grow from cuttings, so if the stem is in good shape still, I would think it would grown. Now, I have no actual experience with this, as the cutting I started ended up freezing, along with many of my geraniums, due to my carelessnes -wall- -wall- -wall- I'm going to try again soon, as we have a huge plant at work that needs some pruning.
