How many beans? Generally you need to figure 6-8" of minumum spacing between plants. The larger the container the more beans. Generally aound the outside of a box garden is better.

Healthy Beans when they produce usually have 2 dozen or more beans on a stock. I would plant one bean in a 6 inch pot. if you make a row of beans in a narrow container like a foot by 6 inches i would put the beans 4 to 6 inches appart or 3 in the foot container! If you are using a 5 gallon plastic bucket a half dozen will grow well because of the deep soil! If you use a 5 gallon bucket place sever quart empty plastic sealed bottles at the bottom to make the container lighter and it will hold less dirt but still plenty for the plants! I usually use empty water bottles since I go through 60 a month!
