I'll be coming into an free aquarium, and thought it would be a great thing to set up a miniature garden for indoors.
I presume rock garden / alpine plants are out because they need dormancy. (not 100% sure on that, I'd love to use those)
So I'm thinking and coming up with ideas such as an orchid arrangement, cactus landscape, or an air plant theme.
The orchids would probably do well in the extra humidity, but need cooler temps to flower, so I think I'd rather keep them mobile.
Cacti and air plants are pretty consistent year round, but that could get a bit boring...
Any thoughts, ideas, maybe flowering tropicals?

An aquarium would make a great indoor garden 
Not all miniatures need dormancy. Try to find ones that are non-hardy and they can be treated like houseplants through the winter. Hardy varities, like miniature hostas, do need a dormant period, but are great for outdoor container gardens/flower gardens in the summer.
Add some miniature accessories like a trellis, bridge over "water" (blue stones?), a stone path, miniature terra cotta pots...there are many.
