Dumb Cane - Anybody knows what is happening???

:D
A couple of weeks ago I was at Lowe's and saw this plant that I really liked and didn't know much about it, so I bought it and brought it home. Then I noticed this white stick coming out of the center and it looked nice to me (sorry don't know what is called). Yesterday this white stick started to turn yellow and I was wondering if it was something that I did wrong. This morning when I woke up the stick was almost covered by, I believe is a leaf. Does anybody knows the story behind this?

I can't see your photos (ImageShack hates me), but from your description what you saw was the emergence of a leaf on the plant, which is totally normal! Dieffenbachia leaves come out of the plant pale and rolled up like cigars, then colour up when they're exposed to sunlight and unroll after they've pushed up enough to prevent tearing.

On the other hand, you also could be seeing a flower. Without the pictures I couldn't be sure.

Lorax's second mental image is spot on. It's a flower.

Lorax, I can't see them either here at work. I loaded them up at home this morning.
Have a nice day!
