I have quite a few in bloom as March through May seems to be my most prolific bloom period of the year.

Wow are those ever beautiful orchids. Good thing someone has fantasic luck with them, I sure don't. Sadly, I'd love to grow something like those, so pretty! Keep up the great work.

Wow, terrific bloom on the yellow phal., what is its name? Also the blue/white is quite unusual.

I don't think the blue orchid is really naturally blue. DS bought it in a NYC flower shop, and the only tag was how to care for your phalaenopsis orchid. I have a feeling it's been artificially altered. I'm enjoying the novelty of it but I doubt that it will re-bloom blue. I've had it since December and it is still going strong. I'll keep you posted.

I have to look for the tag on the mini yellow for you. Something like miniature dancer.

Lorax, I cannot even to begin to imagine being able to go on a hike and just come across orchids as glorious as those! Mother nature certainly knows how to grow and take care of them.

Shadowsmom, how would you react if I told you that at least four of the species I pictured up there are considere to be weeds? I can't quite fathom it either....

Sobralia in particular are treated the same way as dandilions when they appear in the garden - well, I don't treat them that way, but I love dandilions as well, and besides, Sobralia smell like vanilla - but normally they're roundly cursed and then pulled up.

Elleanthus and Habenaria are also treated with derision where they grow, and I have a friend in Mindo who is slowly losing her mind to a Pleurothallis infestation on her roof.

My faves out of that series are the Phrags - I wasn't expecting them at all when I stumbled into the Rio Tigre at the bottom of the hike, and they're unusually fragrant (spicy!) I found out later that they're critically endangered, and that I was incredibly lucky to have stumbled on to them.

Lorax, those weeds really must be a nuisance. The only thing growing on my roof is moss. One person's weed is another person's flower.
