I'm using multi purpose compost... can I use this forever or must I change at some point?

11-12 hours 125w grow light per day... is this ok to do so?

just about to start using blood fish and bone fertilizer its NPK is 5-5-6, are these balanced enough levels or should I find an equal mix?

I'm trying to grow big bushy plants to make tons of pesto. lol I aint paying 2 quid a jar anymore!

hey madmash, I'm new to gardening but I found great success growing basil and even as a new member I think I can help,
What variety are you growing?
are you planning to eventually grow them in natural sunlight?

my lettuce leaf basil grows 4 leaves a week in full sunlight indoors against a glass window. I found that the plants love sunshine and the more the better.

I read that Lettuce Leaf, Sweet, and Genovese basil make the best pesto out of all varieties.

Hey thanks for your reply, I'm growing "sweet genovese", do you use fertilizers, and what type of compost and stuff do you use, thanks mate :o

also, I will let them grow in sunlight, but as you may know, britich winters are extremely dull and have little light. so when the summer comes I will be planting some outside.

(your leaves are very big on your basil, how do they taste?)
