Hanging peas?

Could I get away with planting snow peas in a hanging basket and having the vines just drape over the sides?

Yes, but pea vines don't "drape" very well. They really, really want to grow upward, and those little tendrils will wrap around anything they can reach! :)

Thanks for that, I was looking for an alternative since I don't really have room for a garden, we are on .7 acres, but we have lots of trees in the way. I'll see if we have some spare 2x2's around the yard and make something work. one of my peas is out of control and is about 4 feet long, the other 2 I have in the container are only about 2 feet long

However I really want to remove our Flowering Cherry, its right in the best area for a garden, and we fear the roots have found our septic field because it has grown what seems like 10 feet in 2 years, after it had been only 10 to 15 ft tall for most of its life. Also, I had rather have plants that produce food.
