Container sizes for Zukes

I'm considering planting some zukes in containers. How big does the containers have to be? Also, is it possible to grow butternut squash in a container? again, how big does the pot have to be?

I would say a container about the size of a 5-gallon bucket would be fine. You could use a larger one, of course, but I wouldn't go much smaller.

Although I don't grow squash, my opinion is that a container that is at least as wide as it is deep will offer more stability to the plant. Squash plants can get quite large. There are some smaller varieties of squash plants that were specifically developed for container culture. You might want to choose one of them. I think a standard squash plant should do okay in a container, though. Just make sure it's big enough so the plant isn't always falling over. :)
