perennials in container pots

I've planted several perennial herbs in container pots on my deck. Will these grow from year to year in the containers? If so, what is the best way to winterize them. Thanks for any info!

That should work because on my back deck I have a pot with chives in it that come back every year. Which herbs did you plant? I also have thyme, dill, oregano, and basil.

That's great news! I've planted rosemary, lavendar, basil, thyme, lemon verbanae, parsley and a couple of tomato plants. Everything is doing really well right now. I think I will leave all the perennials in their pots and maybe move them into the garage for the winter. Have you ever tried to bring anything in the house for the winter to keep them going? Although maybe they need a dormant season.
