I have had a goldfish plant for about 2 months.. I got it for my birthday...
the green leaves fall off very easily and I don't know whats going on
I googled this problem the other day and this is what I found..
Q: I was reading the advice you gave on your Web site about goldfish plants, but I still have a question. I've had a goldfish plant for almost a year. This spring, nearly half of its leaves fell off and the plant appears sickly. The strange part is that the leaves that are falling off are still green. Is there anything I can do to save it? (e-mail reference)
A: It is going into a rest period. Let it do so. Keep the soil barely moist for about six weeks, then increase the watering and it should releaf for you.
I was just wondering how long this "rest period" lasts
and if there is anything I can do differently?
maybe take the aqua globe out??
right after I got it:

Hmm... do you give the container a 1/4 turn every day so all sides receive the extra light from the window?
If I remember correctly (it's been a while since I was super interested in houseplants and read every description) Goldfish plant is a Gesneriad and care is similar to African Violets. Maybe it doesn't like soggy soil? -- I.e. the Aquaglobe could be the culprit -- and needs soil surface to dry between waterings? OR, could the Aquaglobe be providing water ONLY in the area near the end of the spike and not so much elsewhere in the container? Also, if I remember correctly, it doesn't like too much sun or heat, and does better with a little extra humidity.
