I've have this plant since easter.
ive had it in modrate/bright indirect sunlight (depending on the weather)
been keeping it wet
I accidently broke off a piece of it today that had 2 or 3 leaf umbrellas on it. I read you could just stick it in the soil and let it re grow
so I stuck it in the middle between the 2 sections of plants. I'm hoping it'll fill out/in
will the section I stuck in the dirt be ok??
is there anything I can go differently to maybe make it grow faster??
I just stuck it in the window to get more light its windy and kinda bright today but not like SUNNY bright...
the last time I had it in direct warm bright sunlight the stems/leaves got droopy
thanx for the help
There are a number of unrelated plants known commonly as "umbrella plant." Yours is a Schefflera, which also is known by the names Brassaia and Heptapleurum. I think your plant may be the species S. arboricola. The species S. actinophylla has slightly wavy leaf edges. It's hard to tell from a photo, though, due to differences in the lighting and the angle of the shot.
Sometimes these plants can be propagated by cuttings, but it isn't always successful. The use of rooting hormone is recommended. This article may be of help to you in regards to caring for the plant:

this is basically my plant just much larger and a solid medium dark green color
I had it outside one day in direct sun and the stems wilted.... I brought it back in and it seems ok now.. I had it on a stool off to the side until today. I moved it into my window that gets nice afternoon sun and I'm going to see how it does... I can always move it back...
