Cleaning pots for new season?

I now a light bleach solution is a good way.

But what about rinsing them clean than throwing them in the dishwasher? Would this be effective to eradicate any possible disease and pest.

I hope so they are a washin' now. If not I could dip them in a bleach bath as well.

My only reservation would be that, if the pots are unglazed clay, some of the detergent would be trapped in the porous clay and not completely rinsed away. I don't use soap or detergents of any kind when I clean my plant containers. I won't even use baking soda, because of it's sodium content.

Mine are plastic (all the ones I start my seeds in). I just rinse and scrub them in water as hot as I can stand it, no soap or bleach, and then air dry them thoroughly before they are put away for the season. Then they sit in dark dry storage for most of the year.
