I bought these from Walmart...

Hi I bought these Freesias bulbs from Walmart & it says sow now for summer colors. I am in zone 9 (sunset zone 14) - Sacramento...can I sow them pot outside or should I sow them in pots indoors and take them out later when it is little warm...these days there is no sun here..lot of fog + drizzles sometimes and daytime temperature is around 55'F while night is in 40's. Also should I sow in potting mix or potting soil.
thanks!

I think you can go ahead and plant them outdoors now. Freesias are said to like cool night temperatures in the 40 -45 degree range.

Yes, freesias are considered hardy in your area. They should do fine planted outdoors, as long as you place them in full sun and very well-drained soil.

The corms need to be kept dry in the summer, while they're dormant. If that isn't possible with them in the ground, it would be better to plant them in containers, so you can control the available moisture.
