Poinsettia Forcing

I'd like to force my Poinsettia to bloom for Christmas time, so am going to start covering it for the recommended app. 15 hours per day. However, the plant is in my office window and I don't come in on weekends. Is it ok to leave it covered up from Friday afternoon until Monday morning? I don't really have a good place for it at home so prefer to leave it up here, but will do whatever it takes to get this sucker blooming!

thank you!

Take a look at the article on Poinsettia Re-blooming at https://www.helpfulgardener.com/container/2003/poinsettia.html
written by our very own Helpful Gardener himself. :)

I think it goes into the aspects of light and darkness (I read it a couple of months ago) to help answer your question. In any case, you'll have questions of a more complex sort! :D

Thanks, that's where I got the info I've already accumulated. wondering if it can make it for 2 days & a bit with no light without suffering a setback. I would hate to kill it after getting it to grow so much in the last year!

I haven't re-bloomed a poinsettia in almost 40 years, but as I remember, I was told just to keep the plant inside a closet or cabinet for several weeks, keeping it barely moist so it didn't dehydrate. It seemed to work fine, so I doubt 2 days of darkness every week would present a problem. I'm not certain of that, however. It seems to me the plant's biochemistry wouldn't be able to develop a negative reaction in that short of a time. JMO, though.
