Help! My coleus plants are dying!

I bought some coleus seeds on ebay and grew about 11 from 100 seeds, this was the first thing I have grown from seed and is what got me interested in gardening :) that was a few months ago and my coleus plants are pretty big now :) I repotted them all recently and they are doing fantastic, growing like you wouldn't believe, except for three of them. Two are in a big pot together, one is in a smaller pot on its own; all of them have completely drooped, fallen over or/and are wilting leaves, thought they are still green. The only differences between these 3 and my other healthy coleus plants are; these 2 pots are just a contained pot, there is no real drainage, I have covered the top of the soil with decorative stones right around the base of the plant, and they have not been RIGHT next to a window although they have had light access.

Could any of these things have caused them to droop? As soon as I noticed I put them right next to the best windows in the house, and tonight I have removed the decorative stones (I noticed one plant has started to go brown around the base of the stalk?). Should I repot them into pots with saucers and therefore better drainage or will this kill them?

Please help I don't want to kill them!!

All plants in containers need drainage. The only exception would be the use of a cache pot, I.e. a decorative container in which the plant and its pot are placed. In that case, the plant and its pot are removed from the cache pot, watered, and allowed to drain thoroughly, before being returned to the cache pot.

The same is true of plant pots that are place in saucers. Any water that collects in the saucer must be poured off.

My guess is that the plants have root rot from standing in water. JMO.
