and was wondering how it was made . I have tried growing moss inside a small bottle and it just turns brown and dies after a while . I left it uncapped is that the secret to it ? should I seal the bottle air tight ? also what soil mixture should I use for something like this . I'm a total moss addict .

Sounds cool. I've seen little jars like that at Hobby lobby, wonder how big it is. I've got a little round one, just smaller than a cherry, wonder if it's too small. Would be cool to hang from the rear view mirror in my car.
Most moss jar terrariums have rocks, then soil, then activated carbon/charcoal(sometimes carbon then soil) and then the moss. I'm guessing for something that small, sand or tiny tiny rocks then soil with ground up carbon mixed in and half a drop of water. And I'm pretty sure it needs to be air tight, one said he used plates to cover his jars.

Also, not trying to jack your thread or anything, but does anyone know if this workls? I've got a tecate a friend left in my fridge I'll probably never drink. I'd just need to find some moss.
Step 1: Put a handful of the moss you want to grow into a blender.
Step 2: Add 1/2 tsp. sugar and one can of beer (the cheapest brand). You can substitute buttermilk for beer if you want.
Step 3: Blend just long enough to mix the ingredients and break down the moss.
Step 4:Spread the soupy mixture with a spatula over the ground or rocks where you want the moss to grow.
