What is Hardening off?

What is hardening off ? I don't think I'm doing this to my new plants , and thats why I am loosing a lot of them . Please tell me .

As you will see if you check the posts, hardening off is just getting plants used to being outdoors in sun and wind, that have been started as indoor seedlings. May in Florida is well into growing season, which probably started back in February. I don't know where you would be getting "new plants" that haven't been hardened off. Maybe if you are buying from a greenhouse, they wouldn't be very used to full sun and wind. Otherwise that may not be the problem.
