can any houseplants be close to a lamp?

I want to put a peace lily near my desk but it would be like < 2 feet from a lamp (halogen equivalent of a 60watt bulb). Would this be ok? I also have a golden pothos and Scheffleras that I could put there also. And if not any of these plants, suggestions of others would be great. (I'm into air purifying plants)
thanks

Two feet sounds OK. Depending on how hot it is, you may not want to go closer.

60W at 2 feet doesn't provide much light.... Can you replace the bulb with a Compact Flourescent Light (CFL) bulb of a higher wattage?

I ended up putting it about 5 feet away and the flower on my plant turned dark brown and crispy!
its also about 15 feet from a window but I'm not sure if the sun shines directly enough in to cause that much damage so quickly
