Blooming Aloe... seeds?

Hello All,
I am new to the forum and need to ask what is probably a silly question...

My aloe plant lives in a plastic container, and we've had it since last spring. Its grown quite a bit, and now has two very tall flower stalks with long reddish flowers that the hummingbirds seem to love. My question is, is there a way to use seeds from these to grow new plants? And if so, at what stage do I take them? There are lots of dried up blossoms around the plant that have fallen off. I live in San Diego, CA if location is important.

And, well, what do you do with these towering flower stalks? Will they dry up and fall off by themselves when the season is over? It's never flowered before, and these stalks are over 2 feet tall, compared to the 1 foot tall plant. I've never had a plant before that liked me much, but this one has been very neat to have around!

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated!

Thank you! :)

all I know is that I'm jealous. I've grown dozens of aloe plants (dif. varieties), and never been able to get one to bloom.
