suggestion for soil needed

hi,
planning to grow petunia & galendula in containers ... could u suggest soil mix? I used to bring potting mix earlier but this year I want really healthy plants and flowers so want to make my own mix. I know nothing about mixing...never done it before so need your help.
thanks!

Well, I made my own mix for a while, using good garden soil, compost, peat moss, vermiculite. However, to be brought indoors, the garden soil and compost have to be sterilized, or you will be bringing a lot of bugs in. I did that by baking it in the oven, which works, but smells pretty nasty.

I didn't see that I got any better results that way than using purchased potting soil. Buying the peat moss and vermiculite is at least as expensive as buying the potting soil in 50 # bags, which is what I do. So I gave up on making my own.

But it's personal choice and I'm sure you will get different answers from other gardeners.

thanks! I will then better stick to the potting soil I get from market. I was thinking it would fall cheaper as well :-)
