Black currant

I planted a black currant bush this spring and it did very well. However, after the fruiting was finished, many of the leaves started to get spotty and brown and sick looking. Now I notice some new growth starting and I am afraid the plant may be diseased even if the new growth looks ok so far. Is there anything I should do with this plant to prepare it for fall and winter? (Montreal, Can.) :?: :(

Cannot think of anything specific other then the plant has fruited and is now starting to lose the old leaves and produce new growth. Basically exactly what you have said.

If you have a fungicide you could spray the bush, but probably just best to pick up the suspect leaves and dispose of.
