Pine needles for blueberries

Hello,
I read here that pine needles are good for blueberries,
this may sound stupid, but dead fallen ones would work good?
I have LOTS of them!
I'm just getting a piece of earth ready to plant in sept.
Any tips or advice would be appreciated!
Thanks, Gary

Pine needles are great mulch and not just for blueberries. They tend to be quite slow to decompose. You probably will see some information to the effect that they will lower pH - for most purposes this is not true to any significant degree. Any soil pH change from using pine needle mulch is likely to be small and temporary.
