Raspberry leaves yellowing.. have spots..pics

Many of the leaves on my raspberry plants are turning yellow. I am not sure whether they are autumn or summer raspberries. I purchased them earlier this year and they grew like mad for months. Now, there is still new growth..but, the taller canes look like they are drying out. A few leaves have brown spots and holes in them also.

Does anyone know what is going on and what I can do about it?

Damethod, Me again, following on from the out of control raspberies, they do sound like Heritage as they are described as having numerous canes and vigerous.

The photos look as if it is something called Leaf Spot, not really helpful I think  Purple/brown spots on the leaves and the edges dry up and disintegrate. The "solution" I read here is to spray with a systemic fungicide. That is all I can find, sorry but I had hoped to find a bit more. :(

The yellowing leaves immediatly leads to thoughts of iron deficency, or similar. Suggest a liquid feed with iron (+manganese+magnesium) in it and see if that helps. Not sure of your soil - sandy?

The information I have says that raspberries are prone to many pests and diseases but it is unusual for cropping to be significantly reduced. However plants should replaced after a number of years.

I would agree.

Might be best to not start two threads in order to keep everything together for other readers. The holes in the leaves you photographed and posted in this thread do remind me of insect damage and it doesn't appear to be the type of damage that a plant couldn't recover from on its own... if it isn't stressed. My raspberries get these types of holes frequently and they've never been much more than cosmetic damage over here. This is what leaf spot fungus on raspberry looks like-

I don't think your plant had leaf spot fungus based on all the photos you've been able to share.

I started the other thread about a month ago. This thread got several views..but, no responses. Seeing that my raspberry plants were getting worse by the day..I was hoping for some suggestions ASAP. Sorry if it was a bit annoying seeing it on two different posts. From this point on..just respond in the other post.

THanks for all the help!

Not annoying in the least. Felt really bad for you when I saw close up photos of leaves that really did have holes in them that looked an awful lot like insect damage as opposed to a fungal infection in them over in this thread right after I posted in the other thread. I had blown up your first images to get a better look and had seen what appeared to be holes but wasn't quite sure. If you add photos to an existing thread, it automatically bumps the thread into view again. Keeps everything together nice and neat. It was raining on and off yesterday so I couldn't go out and play in the dirt as much as I would have liked, kids at camp, and I was bored so I was online poking around. Ran out to some of my raspberries with a flashlight in the dark to check the leaves for holes and sure enough, holes that looked like your holes and a few slugs in the area. Pretty sure your holes are like my holes and are the result of insect activity.

There is no one silver bullet for what's going on with your plant right now. Rather than working the chelated iron into the soil around the plant alone, why not take this opportunity (you're going to need to disturb the plant anyway) to raise it up a little bit and amend your soil at the same time? I don't know that I'd try any foliar applications of anything right now based on the looks of those leaves after the anti-fungal application. Also too, be very careful with how you water the plant.

Would you be able to share which fungicide spray you used?

If for any reason you lose this plant, don't give up. Everybody loses plants.

Oh yeah, Liquid Copper Fungicide. I checked the label to make sure that I could use it on berries first.

So, you think I should apply the liquid iron directly into the dirt?(thats usually how I do it anyways...just thought maybe directly on the leaves would be best.)....or do you mean I should check the soil for too much moisture..some type of insect..what am I looking for?

The holes had me worried...but these huge patches of soggy brown areas...that REALLY has me worried.

Hold your horses for a second ;) Just got back in from getting eaten alive by mosquitoes and now I'm wet to boot. I've got a few photos for you. Give me a chance to figure out what my password was to that webshots hosting place. Sheesh, I can't even remember what my user name was to that webshots. I'll post photos in the other thread.
