Fig Tree Spots

I started growing a new fig tree in a container this spring. It started off well, but recently some of the leaves have started yellowing and brown spots have appeared (see attached).

There has been a lot of rain here in the New York City area lately. The pot sometimes gets drenched. I'm gueesing this is the cause of the problem. Can anyone recommend a treatment.

Regards,
John

Sounds like fig rust. It is a common problem. Good sanitation helps. Since it is in a container make sure you are not overwatering and causing roots to rot which can also cause spotting. If it is going to rain for a long period of time. try to get the fig under cover. If you bring it indoors suddenly all of the leaves will drop. It is the nature of figs but it will regrow new leaves.
