I had a pomegranate tree in Arizona when I lived there. Pomegranate looks round like a pear for a while then when it gets large enough it developed 5 flat sides. Once you notice flat sides it takes another month pomegranate is not as solid as before and it is completely red color. Soon as it no longer feels hard as cement it is ripe.

Thanks for reply. Actually my pomegranate is White/Pink variety. You are right currently it's round.
What about my remaining questions.

Waiting for your reply.

Ants have never been a problem in my garden they crawl all over the plants but never eat plants. I think ants eat bug eggs.

In Arizona all the extra stems are cut off leaving 1 of the largest stems to grow as 1 single plant that turns into a 15 ft tall tree loaded with 600 pomegranates. I use to have a picture of a pomegranate tree in a Mexican families yard when it was loaded totally full with 100s of ripe pomegranates. They sold pomegranates at the local flea market on weekends.
