My plum tree - not looking healthy - see pics please

Hi All

My three year old plum tree which hasn't fruited yet doesn't seem to look healthy. The leaves seem to have holes in, not sure if eaten by insects? Also bottom few branches/shoots I haven't had any leaves grown on them. Here are pics, can someone kindly advice further? I live in UK .

Thanks

Hi Husk,
I don't think your tree is too bad considering the lousy spring weather it's been through this year.
I suspect the damage is caterpillar chewing. Probably by now the culprits have all gone.
Those bottom shoots that are not leafing up......give them another week or so, then if they are still not producing growth I would remove them. They are not needed that low down and there could be a canker problem starting on them.

Thanks John, wouldyou suggest I spray using a pest spray anyway?

Not unless you find the culprits Husk. Plums don't normally need much spraying.

Any idea how to bring this plum tree alive? My third one which I bought in March potted one and repotted it in a large enough pot with john inns on3, during April only few leaves appeared and the dryed up. I must admit I didn't water it much/enough but during last month watered it loads but no luck yet.
