Help me identify this Pineapple?

This was planted by my mother probably 6-10 years ago (no clue exactly when). I have no idea what type it is. It also flowers every year now but has never once produced a pineapple. Any insight as to what type it is, or how to prompt it to fruit would be much appreciated!

I don't know what that is, but it is not a pineapple. Try posting another picture once the blooms open. Maybe someone can id it then.

Hello! Welcome to the forum!

I think you have a yucca plant there, not a pineapple!

If you have the right type of pollinator (Yucca moths), the flowers make a fruit that is edible. The Yucca root is not the same as the yuca (cassava) root. The cassava roots are edible, but I'm not sure if the Yucca roots are edible...

They're pretty popular for landscaping around here!
