Cucumber in container growing too tall

So I have a container grown cucumber, its about 6 and a half feet tall. I need to prune it so it stops growing. Can I literally just cut off the top of it like a pepper? I don't want it to grow too tall and fall over..

on a trellis, right? otherwise, save those tree-cucumber seeds!

it should be fine (and may actually encourage more spreading) to just top it.

Yeah it's on a trellis I made of 3 6 foot bamboo sticks tied together, it's growing on it real nicely, just it's grown about 6-8 inches taller than the trellis and doesnt look to stop.

honestly I'd probably just let it grow and flop over on top if it was me. how big is the container? is there really a danger of it tipping over? should be possible to stabilize the base somehow, so it wouldn't be an issue...

it's a 5 gallon container.. There are 2 vines growing, both were about 6 and a half foot tall or more.. I just cut the top off both. We'll see how it goes. I had to cut some of the bottom leaves off because of leaf miners so I'm hoping this gets some bottom growth going.
