My husband dug out a "cherry-looking" tree from an old, abandoned property and planted it out on the field. And he is obsessed over it
We have had it for 2 years and it still hasn't produced fruit- just flowers. How do you tell apart fruit-bearing cherry trees vs. flowering cherry trees?
You probably have sakura which is the flowering cherry blossom, prunus serrulata. There are a few varieties but only a few produce sour fruit.
The edible cherry is in the same family of prunus but a different variety . Prunus avium (wild cherry ) prunus cerasus
This might help to id your cherry.
