I have a couple of questions about pear trees

alright....time for my monthly stupid question....or, like Chris Berman said : there are no stupid questions, only stupid people who ask questions......Guilty as charged....

I have 5 pear trees growing in my yard that I have espaliered on a fence in my front yard.

2 are asian pears and 3 are european pears

my stupid question is: can asian and european pears pollinate each other....just askin'

my actual question concerns ripening time in my zone....I am in nashville...look at my profile to find zone number

the five are: New Century Asian pear, Hosui Asian pear, Moonglow, Starking Delicious, & stark honeysweet

the blurbs from stark's say they will ripen from mid-aug to mid-sept....think this is approximate for my zone?

Re: I have a couple of questions about pear trees

In fact, varieties of fruit trees which are not self-fertile, and require a pollination partner, the partner has to be a different variety of the same fruit species. So,...Two trees of the same variety will not pollinate each other!
