Home grown strawberry seeds not sprouting

I planted homegrown strawberry seeds around 6 weeks ago and no sprouts. Some I sat in refrigerator 2 weeks, and blended out seeds, some I put in freezer for a month, and some I took right off the plants. I've since planted more and nothing. I used miracle grow seed starting mix about two inches deep, and sprinkled seeds on top of container outside, then sprinkled a fee mm on top and watered. I have kept it moist and temps have varied. I have volunteers popping up from last year, but nothing yet. Seeds came from wild native vesca, Virginians, and coastal strawberries, as well as maybe 15 common cultivated berries and nothing. What am I doing wrong?

You may need to wait a little longer, before deciding they are not sprouting. While it is possible to start strawberries from the seeds, note that in nature very few of those seeds actually sprout even if you leave the fruit out their to rot. Note too, that if the berries weren't dead ripe, the seed might not be viable. It is an interesting thing to do, but even with "commercial seed" heating pads on a timer and lids over the trays most of us who have run this experiment have had only a few actually sprout and it took longer than 6 weeks. Good luck

Thanks. Your probably right. I noticed tons of strawberry baby plants from last year sprouting now, so that tells me something about how long they take to sprout.

You were right! I was watering my plants today and noticed several sprouts in one of the seed starting containers.
